Phoenix Automotive Press Association (PAPA)

To Host “Arizona Auction Week Preview” Event

FIRST Time Ever Open to General Public

Wednesday, January 18, 2012 - Tickets are limited to the 100

Partial proceeds to benefit McPherson College Classic Vehicle Restoration Program

PHOENIX, AZ (Dec. 29, 2011) – Each January, Arizona becomes the center of the classic car world, with more than half a dozen auctions at which several thousand vehicles will be sold. With so much going on, it can be difficult to sort things out. To aid with this effort, the Phoenix Automotive Press Association invites a panel of classic car experts to present personal observations and expectations. Now, for the first time, and by popular demand, PAPA is opening this ‘insider’ forum to the general public, to non-members.  A limited number, 100 tickets, are available to non-members.

The Preview will be held at the Phoenix Art Museum. Each ticket is priced at $20 and includes presentations from the auction houses, the panel discussion, an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists, a dessert buffet at the conclusion of the event, and a gift bag. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the classic car restoration education program at McPherson College, the only college in the country that grants a four-year degree in classic vehicle restoration.

The Arizona Auction Week Preview begins at 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in Singer Hall of the ground floor of the Phoenix Art Museum’s administration building

The esteemed panelists for PAPA’s 2012 Arizona Auction Week Preview are:

Jim Pickering, managing editor of Sports Car Market and editor of American Car Collector magazines.

Ken Gross, former director of the Petersen Museum, selection committee member for and judge at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and a veteran automotive journalist and car collector.

McKeel Hagerty, chief executive officer of Hagerty Insurance – world’s largest insurer of classic vehicles -- publisher of Hagerty Magazine, and founder of the Historic Vehicle Association.

In addition to the panel discussion, each of the auction houses staging events in Arizona has been invited to offer a brief preview of its event and its noteworthy vehicles. Those auctions include Barrett-Jackson, Bonhams, Gooding & Company, RM, Russo and Steele, and Silver

Only 100 are available at $20 each and are being sold through the http://papa.eventbrite.com website.

Souped up Sausage and PastaSouped-Up Sausage and PastaBy Cathy Burford
Do you need to create a hearty meal in a big fat hurry? This is a sure hit. It’s great on a chilly night.
1 pound hot Italian sausage
1 pound mild Italian sausage
12 oz chopped baby carrots
1 medium onion, chopped
4 cloves minced garlic
2 – 49.5 oz cans of chicken broth
2 – 14 oz cans diced tomatoes, undrained
1 – 15 oz can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
1 bay leaf
1 Tab basil
2 cups small shell pasta
6 oz fresh spinach leaves, sliced
Shredded Parmesan or Romano cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Squeeze sausages from casings and cook on medium-high heat, stirring until brown and crumbly (10 minutes). Remove and discard all but 1 tablespoon fat from the pan.
Add onions, carrots and garlic and continue to cook for another 7 minutes.
Add broth, tomatoes, beans, basil, bay leaf and bring to a boil.
Add pasta shells, lower heat to medium, and simmer for about 10 minutes, until pasta is tender. Discard any accumulated fat and stir in spinach. Season with salt and pepper and serve immediately. Pass shredded cheese at the table.
For preparing this soup on the road, you can cook the base of the soup ahead of time, just adding the pasta and spinach to the re-heated soup right before serving.
Enjoy!

Auto Anything for Pet Seat Covers

They’ve got you covered!
Canine Covers from Auto Anything
By: Melanie Droz
As soon as my husband and I had our first child (Slim, our English Bulldog), we were certain we needed to buy a seat cover for the truck! However, it was not until the birth of our second child (4-month-old Berrett) that we actually got one from Canine Covers.
I guess we had both gotten used to the inconvenience of dog hair on our clothes, in our mouths and up our noses. I always travelled with a lint roller in my purse. But, I was not going to let this impair my newborn! I was determined to provide him with the dog hair-free ride that was so unfamiliar to me.
Once the Canine Cover arrived from auto anything www.autoanything.com it was so easy to install in to our Ford F-150 truck. The straps easily hook around the rear headrests and it is simple to loop the seatbelts through. I know this because I still sit in the backseat with the baby. You could say I’m a bit of a neurotic mom. It was also easy to loop the base to the carseat through the cover. I know this because I watched my husband do it.
Once in, the Canine Cover works wonders. It’s comfortable for me, Slim and Berrett! It has the extra padding on the seatbase that provides some cushion for me. Whether we’re driving the boys to the dog park down the street or taking them on a longer trip to San Diego, the covers protect the seating surface and floors from unwanted dog hair. Despite Slim’s small stature, he has a lot of hair to shed.
The seat covers also come with durable water-repellent finish. This is helpful when Slim has accidents and even when Berrett spits up his food. No matter what the liquid, it comes out easily!
Since the Canine Cover is so easy to install, it is also easy to take out and launder or shake off from time to time. We also wipe it off periodically with a wet washcloth. Looks good as new!
Canine Covers has a lot more than just a seat cover to offer. They have custom rear seat protectors in over 500 patterns, semi-custom bucket seat protectors for front seats, custom cargo area travel liner, econo-plus rear seat protectors, travel buckle-up seatbelt for dogs, back seat dog bed, door shield, rear seat hammock and even an ultimate dog bed or sofa saver.
No matter what your needs, Canine Covers will protect your vehicle and your home from unwanted dog hair.
For pricing and more details go to www.autoanything.com search for Canine Covers for Pets. Enter your vehicle make and model and your semi-custom seat covers will fit live a glove.
